Homemade traditional games with coffee.

This tour will take you to my childhood memory. We will start our tour at Seomun Market. You can try traditional Korean street food, including Hoddeok, fishcake, and dumpling! If you are really hungry, we could have a lunch. You can choose one of two, Dduckbokki and Korean noodle soup.

After lunch, we take a look at the market. Warm memories are kept in markets. It has not only a variety of stuff but unique mood. Try to feel it. It may be interesting.

And Romance Papa is one of my favorite cafés in Daegu. This is a remodeling traditional Hanok and filled with vintage stuff. It feels like my grandmother’s home. So we will play something traditional.

Second, Korean Traditional Games

You can take origami class. I will help you to make Bokjumeoni. Bokjumeoni is a Korean traditional coin purse to represent good fortune. Made by silk fabrics and normally features the five Korean traditional colors: red, blue, yellow, white and black which are representatives of the five elements of Asian philosophy. It was used as pockets because Hanbok doesn’t have pockets. Try to make Hanbok Bokjumeoni of paper!

After then, we will enjoy some of the folk games, like Gonu and Omok. There are many kinds of Gonu; examples are a pond, line, well of pumpkin gonu. The game is played with a small pebble and a game board drawn on the ground or a piece of paper. Players move their pebbles move one block forward, and the player who blocks their opponent’s pebble wins.

Omok is an abstract strategy board game. Also called Gobang or Five in a row, it is traditionally played with black and white stones on a board. These pieces are not moved or removed from the board, it may be also be played as a paper and pencil game. This game is known in several countries under different names.
