Also, I have many different interests so I am looking forward to listening to stories about YOUR life. I lived overseas when I was young so I am fluent in English and I also speak a little bit of Chinese. Already looking forward to meeting you See you soon.
Culture / Food
First, DDP Exhibitions
If anyone would have to suggest one of the hottest places of Seoul, one of them would obviously be Dongdaemun. Dongdaemun is certainly one of the places where you can experience out-of-the-league architecture, arts, fashion, food, and history of Korea.
We will be meeting at exit 1 of Dongdaemun History and Culture Park Station (Line 2, 4, and 5) at 3:30 and will head straightly to the Design Museum to see an exhibition held at the Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP).
The admission fee is 8,000 Won for general people and for elementary, middle, and high school students, seniors above the age of 65, 6,000 Won. For more information regarding the DDP exhibitions, please refer to http://www.ddp.or.kr.
After the exhibitions, we will follow the self-tour trails that DDP suggests. The DDP building itself was designed by a very famous Iraqi designer, Zaha Hadid. The building is known to have no straight lines neither on the inside or the outside of the building. You not only be looking around the modern and elegant architecture and designs of DDP, but also, following this trail it will lead you to the old Joseon fortresses that Dongdaemun History and Culture Park embraces.
By the time we finish sightseeing, you will be feeling a bit hungry so, we will have dinner with a menu of your choice.
I suggest you try some Korean dishes that you wouldn’t be able to taste in other countries.
There is a famous kimchi jjigae(stew) restaurant, a stir-fry jukumi(web-foot octopus) restaurant, and a ddukbbokki(Korean rice cakes with a spicy sauce) store nearby that I know of.
If you are fond of spicy food, you will probably enjoy the meal if you choose from one of the options that I gave you. But, if you are not fond of spicy food, that’s fine, too. J Just tell me whatever you would like to eat beforehand and I promise you I will find you a great place to have dinner. Oh, and on Fridays and Saturdays during the summer, the Seoul Dokkaebi Night Market that opens near DDP.
There will be food-trucks and booths selling food and drinks on the street. It may be a bit pricier than just going to a restaurant to eat, but again this is completely your choice! You may eat at the night market, or at a restaurant.
The last course of this tour would be to go shopping!
Dongdaemun is surely one of the hottest places of fashion. I can help you look around some of the hottest stores of Dongdaemun like Doota, Miliore, and so on. Near the shopping district there are a lot of street vendors selling delicious snacks so on the way in or out of the shops you can also grab a bite for some dessert!
The tour would end after a one or two hour shopping spree and I we will walk back to the Dongdaemun History and Culture Park station.
